LINK is the UK’s Cash Access and ATM Network, connects virtually all the UK’s ATMs and provides communities with access to cash through services such as cash at retailers’ tills and Banking Hubs.

Here’s things you should know about the UK’s cash access and ATM network from LINK’s March 2023 Monthly Report.

#1: ATM transactions in March 2023 fell by 5.4% (vs March ‘22) but were up 11% (vs March 2021 - lockdown period). Withdrawal values fell by 1.7% (vs March 2022) but still equalled £6.8 billion.

#2: There are almost 2,500 locations across the UK that offer a LINK based cash at till facility

#3: Over 3,500 ATM’s across the UK receive a subsidy as part of LINK’s work on financial inclusion. 103 “lost” free to use ATM’s have been targeted for replacement and resolved via direct ATM commissioning (48)m through premium ATM’s (19) and regular ATM installations (36).
