3.0: Expanding A2A Payments Across Europe
Joining the EPI, Revolut targets broader A2A payment adoption and integration in European markets
Revolut Joins European Payments Initiative to Expand A2A Payments Across Europe
Revolut has announced its integration with the European Payments Initiative (EPI), bringing Wero Wallet to millions of its users across Europe this summer. This move marks a significant step in accelerating account-to-account (A2A) payment adoption and challenging the duopoly of Visa and Mastercard in the region.
Launched in late 2023, Wero leverages SEPA Instant Credit Transfers to enable near-instant payments via phone number, email, or QR code. Already live in several markets with over 40 million users, Wero’s reach will now extend to Revolut customers in France, Belgium, and Germany, offering free and instant peer-to-peer payments within the Revolut app.
This partnership sets the stage for future growth. In 2025, Wero will expand into e-commerce payments, with in-store payments, subscriptions, and loyalty features to follow in 2026.
Seamless, instant payments are a must, integrating Wero allows us to offer customers secure, borderless payments across Europe — in the most intuitive way possible.
